AGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

I know it’s been a month from my last post. I have two birthdays, Thanksgiving, a family visit and Christmas shopping that needs to be posted and read by all but first I need to get this of my chest. Travis has a company party to night that his boss has very directly told him he SHOULD REALLY attend. And being in the current economic status that our wonderful country is in we want to keep him happy. We have known about this party for weeks but didn't feel the need to find a babysitter until this week. Being the good Mormon that I am did not call on Monday night to find a babysitter. On Tuesday placing a strategic call after school but before dinner and church meetings, called or norm babysitter to see if she would be willing, no such luck and then the bad news on Friday night the Young men and women are having practice for the ward party on Saturday and no young women are going to be available for Friday. OOHH GRAP!!! Then my wonderful husband comes up with the Idea that I should call my cousins in West Jordan and see if they would be willing. Because we all know that the Friday before Christmas they would have nothing better to do! RIGHT? Thru all that I didn’t get a hold of them until 7pm last night and after a very long story the oldest would not be able to do to work. But that still leaves her little sister and There mom who loves kids. And then my 80ish granny would be willing to take the kids after a 3 am shift today at the temple and a Santa party for the whole family tomorrow! SO I guess my question is should I try and get a hold of my cousins at 3:30 to see if they could take my kids at 5, or have my 80ish Granny watch my wild very high energy whirl wind kids with a 26 pound 1 year old that she can't lift! Or just tell my husband no such luck maybe next year? Oh and by the way all my kids have a cough and runny noses! Dose that help? And along with this my husbands co-worker has been texting me asking in a very funny non harassing way to get a babysitter or there not going either. HahahaHAhahah Happy Holidays!

TAG.....I'm IT

This is my First tag EVER. I'm so nervous. It has been about a month since Katie Tagged me. Oh well! Thanks Katie! 1. I love UFC Fight Night. Travis totally has me hooked on ultimate fighting. I can't watch boxing of wrestling sooooooo boring!! But I totally love UFC. 2. I hate reality TV. Can't stand it. People are so stupid. And they always seem to get the bimbos. Some shows are better than others. And there are some really smart people out there, but those shows are no fun either, you spend the whole time trying to figure out what there talking about. And for all the others they just make me feel like a total loser because I’m sitting on my couch watching instead of doing what there doing. 3. I still love horses. Always have and I think always will. I used to have horses and my Husband loves them as well. But it's a little hard when you live in suburbia. 4. I love Fantasy. Fantasy books, movie T.V. Getting lost in wonderland is always a nice break from life. 5. You can't tell by looking at me but I’m a practical natural health nut. Homeopathic and Essential oil, that kind of stuff. 6. I pick my nose. You read it right. I do it tactfully of course. In private where no body can see and I always throw them away in the garbage, and then was my hands. I can’t stand burgers; I have to get them out. And sometimes blowing and doing the little Q-tip thing with the tissue doesn’t always work. 7. I'm imposable shy, and communicational challenged. I can never say or do the right thing like it's pictured in my mind. It always comes out jumbled or I stutter. So I just keep my mouth shut. I thing that I come of a bit mean or Like I have a superiority complex just because I can’t hold a conversation. And I find it extremely difficult to ask people question, even if they have asked me a question first. Halloween

So it’s about time I get this posted. I really didn’t get a lot of good pictures of the kids in there costumes. But you can use your imagination. Travis and the girls (I helped out very little) carved pumpkins two nights that week. They had so much fun. I had found a Disney princess pumpkin stencil online for free. The girls had so much fun making there Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella pumpkins. Trick or treating was a totally different experience this year. Taydem figured it out very quickly, but wouldn’t go up to the door by herself. Taylyn had a few scares that afterwards she wouldn’t’ go any where without holding dads hand. Talen spent the whole time in the stroller eating suckers to keep him happy and his mind of the cold and rain. All in all we had a very fun Halloween and can’t wait till next year. The girls made absolutely beautiful princesses and Talen was there little protective alligator.

Birthday Party!!!

Saturday in Idaho we had a Birthday party for Taylyn. We had all are family there and she loves her cousins so why the heck not. We played all day then opened presents and had cake and ice cream. Thanks to mom mortensen for letting us all crash her house and Thanks to my mom for all the help with the cake and just life in general. Taylyn had a lot of fun and this was the first year when she really understood that these were her presents and she new just how to open them and not let go. We had a little craft project with my girls and there cousins the boys as we call them. We painted paper pumpkins and then painted Halloween masks. This was the first time I let the girls paint; they had a lot of fun. After the party we had all the kids make little bugs. You take a bite sized mound bar put broken pretzels in the sides for legs and then I let them use the left over frosting for the cake to decorate there bugs, it was a lot of fun, a big mess, but lots of fun. A special thanks to Katie for all her help. I love coming home and getting to know you better.

Talens Picture Day

So when I was home. See post below. I took Talen in with the aid of my mom and had his one year pictures done. They turned out so cute! He was really struggling this week with stranger anxiety and not having his daddy around (he's very much a daddy’s boy!). When we started taking the pictures, he had such a bubble. If the photographer came inside that bubble he would start wailing, the minute he stepped out Talen was just fine. I couldn't help but laugh; the photographer finally started telling me where to move the props so Tal wouldn't start crying. Ahh the memories!

I can't believe how much he has grown and will always remember to never leave dad behind when trying to take pictures. The picture with him crying, first shot, I sat him down and tried to step back, didn't go over so well.

Trip Home

I still call Idaho home. Although Utah is starting to fill like home, I guess it would help if I started calling home. :) I made a fast trip home almost two weeks ago for my friends wedding. I shared the reasonability of the bridal shower with an amazing lady and it came out so fun. I did the games; we only played two because I hate playing games myself so why inflict on others! We had a really fun evening. On Thursday My mom and I made applesauce from her home grown apple MmmmmM! so good. We played with the kids and just had a relaxing day. Friday morning (the day of the wedding) I was up early with the help of my mom to make Taylyns B-day cake a little mermaid. So much fun. I then headed into town to do a little shopping and have Talens one year pictures done. My mom love to take in the grandkids and get pictures, I love it too,mom pcik up the tab and if my mom didn't I would never have pictures done:) Then we headed over to Sams to hook up with my hubby. After which it was a mad dash to Rexburg to pick up the hot food from the Collage Catering service then another mad dash to Rigby to drop it off. Whew! After that it was home to change and make it to the wedding on time. We made it in the nick of time... We walked in and sat down right when they started waling out. Yikes! Couldn’t have been closer. It was a beautiful wedding and I'm so happy for them. I tried very hard not to cry and I managed pretty well. I was jut so happy for her that she finally found peace and love in her life. And the girls were so cute. I crew up with these girls. For the two little ones, I was there babysitter form the time of birth and the oldest from her 2nd birthday. Anyway, it turned out wonderful and I'm just so lucky to have a husband who doesn’t mind if I skip off for a week.

Happy Birthday

This is a week late and I haven’t posted in over a month. So look for a lot more in the next few days and I’ll try to be more regular in the coming months. Our little Taylyn Isabell just turned three. She was born on October 27, 2005. I love her birth story, just because it was an easy labor and birth, you don’t have to read but I want to share. :) On October 26 I had my docter appointment were I was already a week over do and the doctor didn’t want to wait any more so he set me up to be induced the next morning. I did not want to be started, I had heard so many horror stories and I’m just the kind that feels when my body and the baby are ready it will all happen. At the appointment the doc checked me and I was a full 4, almost half way there. He sent me home and said see you in the morning. 0: Ya right, not if I can help it! I went home and started drinking my tea like nothing else. Don’t get me wrong I’m not a normal tea drinker but this tea helps strengthen the uterus and prepares you for labor if your close enough it can put you into labor. It worked; by around 9:00 that night I was having regular contractions. Now let me clarify by regular contraction I mean nothing more painful then a heavy menstrual cramp, really I never felt more than mild discomfort with her labor. Travis finally convinced me that it was time to go to the hospital but I wouldn't leave the house in a mess, so why he called and had my wonderful mother in law come over to watch Taydem , I cleaned the house, dishes, bathroom, vacuumed, picked up and packed my hospital bag. After all that Travis finally pushed me into the car and we made it to the hospital around 10:30. We were settled into the exam room the nurse check me and I was at a 6, really no pain, I was so happy. The doctor wanted to wait to admit me until after midnight so we wouldn’t be charged for and extra day. Go Doc! When we were admitted and settled in our room the nurses had the epidural ready to go, really I new it was going to get worse and I wanted no part of that! By the time the epidural was in I was almost an 8 and still no real pain. Yippy! The doter arrived around 3:10 and after a few easy pushes Taylyn was born at 3:15 on Oct. 27 she weighed in at 9Ib. 15oz 20 inches. Almost a full pound heavier then her older sister. We are so lucky to have Taylyn in our lives. She is so soft hearted and has a very quiet sense of humor. She looks up to and adores her sister and is very protective of her brother. She loves her daddy and will always be daddy’s little princess. She goes with the flow but when she has something in mind no force on earth can move her. She digs in and gets what she wants. There have been a few scary moments, but it's always turned out ok. We love her and can’t imagine our lives without her. It's been an amazing three years and can’t wait for the coming years. Help... Please

I’m total stepping out of my blogging norm and asking for a little help. You see I have this horrible, nasty disease known as fashionites or more commonly as fashionable challenged. Ya whoda thought! So here’s my problem. I have this wedding I’m attending at the end of October. She is a really good friend who wouldn’t care what I wore. BUT I DO. I currently own 1 skirt that I ware every Sunday. Sick, I know. And after having 3 kids very close together I’m a little bigger everywhere but especially around the middle. If I try to ware a non-elastic skirt I have to go up about 4 or more sizes. Just to fit the waist but it drowns me everywhere else and usually hits the floor. I’m not very tall. So I guess I’m looking for a nice skirt with an absolute gorgeous top. I also would like a nice pair of hills to go with. Mind you I have NEVER woren hills before in my LIFE. When I say hills I mean baby hill just enough to look sexy. OK back to the skirt. I need locations that would carry you know ELASTIC skirts or something with a little stretch. But most of all I need Ideas. She started this wedding classy but a little down scale, now after shopping with her last weekend and seeing her wedding dress, she has taken it to a whole new level. I need to step up my wardrobe a little just to fit in. Mind you I DON’T want to look like one of the wedding party. I just want to look nice; OK I want to look down n’ out sexy! Her wedding colors are a light chocolate and a cream orange. Her weeding dress is ivory, the made of honors dress is Champaign and the little girls are a classy white with Champaign umpire ribbon. So cute!!! So if anyone has a fabulous place they get there cute skirt and shoes from or just color ideas or you know ANYTHING!! and would like to share. Please, please do. I NEED THE HELP

Talen

Talen finally cut his two bottom teeth little over month ago. And just recently cut his two upper teeth, (though you can’t see them yet). On this day he was playing in the kids craft cupboard which he absolutely loves to make a mess in. And kept climbing in the cupboard then the girls would shut the doors and run off leaving him trapped. I kept hearing this muffled cry but couldn’t figure out where he was. After a while it became a big game on both sides, he started just sitting in there quiet as could be until I fished him out. He has started to make this goofy smile where he curls his upper lip under and pooches out his cheeks. I admit it’s very cute but he won’t give me his award winning I’m a hot model smile anymore. When will kids learn that when mom wants to take a picture you give your best smile and not a goof face?

Soccer

Taydem started soccer about two weeks ago. She has absolutely loved it. I myself have never played but always thought it would be fun. Travis being the big athlete that he was and still wants to be, when he has time, couldn't’t wait to have her sign up. This is her third game and thanks to the tall red headed kid in some of the pictures, The Dragons (our team) has won every game, but who’s counting? :) So far Taydem really loves playing and has made great friends (just like her dad, I’m the shy one). She really has never seen a soccer game and just doesn't know anything about soccer. She is a very visual learner and she picks up anything she can see very fast, this has been a bit of a challenge for her not being able to see the whole concept. Its wonderful to see her challenged in this small way and over come it. This last week she finally started to catch on that it was OK to get in the ruff of it and try to kick the ball. It’s so funny watching the herd of little kids all trying to kick the ball at one time, all usually from the same team. Most of you don’t know Travis and I love watching The UFC (Ultimate Fighting Group) and have gotten quit hooked, with that I’m not sure it’s a good thing or not but so has Taydem. Travis will actually tell Taydem to start fighting and she’ll put her hands up and start punching. She has become quit the wrestler (fostered by her dad) and love to take older kids down, get on top and playfully start punching. She never really hurts anyone, except maybe her sister. But with this in mind every time one of the other kids during the game would touch her she would start crying and walk of the field. Travis finally had had enough, seeing that the couches were not going the make her tough it out, and had a little buck up talk with her. After that she was pushing boys twice her size down to try and get ball. Travis could not have been happier, I was a little nervous that some of the moms would what to have a talk with the mother of this little girl. All came out well in the end and we all had a wonderful day. Taydem is so excited to know that she can push and kick in a reasonable manner that she can’t wait to play some more. All in All it has been a great experience so far and I can’t wait for more games to come now and down the road. It’s so exciting to have my daughter doing something that I always wanted to try. I was always so wrapped up in horses that I never tried to play. That’s one of my biggest regrets. But now I can live through my kids. After all isn't that what being a mother's all about!?!

Mortensen Family Trip Part 4

Monday finally came around and we were off to Lagoon. Mommy D. (Debbie, Travis mom) lovingly volunteered to stay home with Talen, bring us lunch and then pick up the girls. So that morning Travis his Sister Angie and her wonderful boys Justin and Tyler with our two girls Taydem and Taylyn and of course myself all loaded in the care and headed for Lagoon. Just a little history, Last year we had a Mortensen Family trip to Lagoon where Travis Brother Bob and his family along with Angie and her family and us all went to Lagoon. On this trip a year ago Tyler freaked out, had them stop the ride and got off of Wicked. We have teased him endlessly about this. So first thing on the list and to get it out of the way before he had time to think about it to much was Wicked. Travis lovingly volunteered to take the girls on the kid rides why the rest of us went on Wicked. As were standing in line you can tell Tyler getting more nervous. As were all strapped in and ready to go he started to hipper ventilate. I couldn’t help but laugh. For those of you who know Wicked has no build up you go around a corner and just shoot straight up in the air and then come straight back down before going on all the twist and up side town turns. The minute we came back down and started in to the turns Tyler was laughing as loud as he could and screaming that he wanted to go again, I couldn’t scream I couldn’t talk all I could do was laugh, this was the boy who made them stop the ride after he was strapped in and moving because he couldn’t handle it and now before we where more then 20% into the ride wanted to go again!!! After it was all said and done we where all very proud of him for concurring his fear. We spent the rest of the Morning over at the kid rides with Taydem and Taylyn. They had so much fun getting Justin and Tyler to go on all the little kid rides. Just before Mommy D. came to pick up the girls we went on Rattle Snake Rapids. Taydem loves this ride she doesn’t have to be strapped in and has fun telling everyone to hold on. Just to set this up Taylyn hates getting cold and wet. Cold water being the bigger part. So as were coming around the corner to the big water fall I lean offer to cover Taydem with my body as Travis picks up Taylyn, using her as am ineffective human shield to protect himself which in turn gets Taylyn soaked and really didn’t do much to protect Travis. What a loving dad. :) After that we all headed out to the parking lot to enjoy lunch that mommy D brought. After lunch we sent the girls home with Grandma and went back into the park to enjoy all the adult rides and let Justin and Tyler have at it. All in All it was a great weekend. I love having the Mortensens come to visit. I’m so lucky to have married into such a warm, inviting and fun family. I can’t wait until next year!!!

Mortensen Family Trip Part 3

Saturday Morning Travis and our good friend Eric had a little side job to do. That meant the Girls and Kids were free to hit IKEA. Words cannot express how much Travis hates IKEA. He was very happy that we all decided to go why he was conveniently working. :) After a long but very fun morning and spending way to much at IKEA on thing I obviously could not live without, we packed up and headed out to meet Travis and Angies younger son Tyler (who had volunteered to hang out with the big boys and big boy toys) at Artic Circle for a quick lunch and then we headed out to Thanksgiving Point. We wanted to see everything there, The Gardens, with the biggest man made waterfall in this hemisphere, The Farm Yard, The Dinosaur Museum,and The I-MAX Theater and they have the most amazing gift shop. But sadly we only had half a day, and were already pretty worn out. After much deliberation we all decided the Museum and a fun 3-D Movie would hit the spot. The Museum was amazing. I’ve never seen a dinosaur fossil before; you can never begin to imagine how big they are until you see one in person. The Girls had a fun time hanging out with Cousin Justin and Cousin Tyler. Taydem and Taylyn had fun playing in the sand and water area where they have hundred of tinny dinosaur toys. After the museum we saw the Movie. The girls had fun watching the 3-D fish and couldn't help but trying to catch them. Talen would where the glasses for the more exciting parts and then just wanted to play. I would love to have spent more time but we where all whipped out and wanted to get plenty of rest before Lagoon on Monday. Besides that just means that we have things to do next year. Sorry no pictures my main computer crashed so I’m just using our old laptop. Can’t get the pictures to upload. I’ll have my computer back by the end of the week so check back and I’ll have all of our fun pictures.

Mortensen Family Trip Part 2

After Jump on It we made our goodbyes to Jason and his family. They were flying out to California. Angie (Travis sister) and her boys along with the kids and I all headed in to town to have lunch with Mom who just arrived into town. We had a quick bite to eat and then headed down to Temple Square. I love going to the Temple. The Girls had not been there for almost a full year. We took the full tour of the Conference center. We went to the top of the balconies and then down to the main flour, Quiet a drop and you would never know that the main floor is well below ground level. The Teleprompter is bigger that you would think. We learned the history and saw all the beautiful original art work. The View from the top is breath taking. The Temple looks so small, but is still amazing. We had a fun time walking around and looking at all the beautiful gardens. I have one picture with everyone on the roof walking down the stairs toward the temple. It makes me cry to look at. I love having the knowledge that we do to know that my family will always be together.

Mortensen Family Trip

Earlier this month my wonderful mother in law Debbie and sister in law with her two boys came to visit for the weekend. We started the week end of by going to Jump on it. We had a blast. One of Travis brothers, Jason and his family were flying out of town that day so they joined us. Jump on it is so much fun The kids all had a blast. Taydem and Taylyn love to play with all of there cousins and what better place then one filled with trampolines! Travis and Jason had a good time playing the awesome dad with all the little ones. Talen inherited the danger gene for his dad. He wouldn't stop laughing as he was jolted up and down while being held by Trav. Talen also got some down time in the little play pin they have. he wouldn't stay by himself but he did have fun taking a much needed break. We all had a great time and will be going back soon.

Happy Birthday Taydem

Our baby girl turned 4 on July 12Th. I can't believe she's 4 years old. Travis and I invited our few friend over for dinner and cake. Taydem had fun playing with her cousins Kavin and Conner who came down from Idaho. And her friends Kaden and Emma. We had a very fun evening. I had planned a lot of fun games and things for the kids to do. But they all just wanted to ride there bikes. What every makes them happy! Taydem wanted a princess cake. So I spent the better part of the day making the cakes. All she could say was "wow mom that is so cool, thank you." I heard that over and over it never got old. Besides the cake we made seven layer salad and potato salad. It was a fun BBQ and the kids really had fun. Taydem got all of the things she wanted and more for her birthday, including a new bike. We love you Taydem and are so grateful and Lucky to have you in our family.

Quiet Tornado

This is a little out of order. But I can laugh about it now. Before Mom and Dad came down the last week in June for Uncle Buds funeral. I had spent the whole day cleaning. My house really needed it, and the parents coming is always good motivation. So I Finlay have the house perfect. I go to take a shower. Talen was asleep and the girls were watching a move. I come down stairs to be hit in the face by rice. Ya that's right rice! Taydem is covered in flour and taking cover behind me. Taylyn in standing in the pantry, She has all of the five gallon container of flour, rice and sugar open and my smaller container as well with salt and soda. So after all day cleaning, a good time out. It took me another three hours to clean this up. Don't be surprised. She had every inch of counter, sink and top of cabinets covered. The pictures say it all!! What will she think of next!

4th of July

We had a wonderful 4th. The kids and I started the week of by going home with Mom and Dad Yost. We spent the week visiting family and Playing. Travis joined us Thursday to watch the Rigby Firework. Taydem loved the big boom with every explosion of light. Friday Mom showed me how to decorate a doll birthday cake for Taydem. We had a small party for her with Mom, Dad, Thayne, Trent & Viona and their kids. We ended the night with fireworks in the back yard. The girls loved playing with all their cousins and as always Grandpa and Grandma. Thanks for a great week!!!

Talen

So I spent about four hours today uploading my picture to the computer and then to Kodak.com. I came across some very cute pictures of Talen and had the though that most of you out their have never seen him. So here you go, the cutest little boy. The slide show starts when he is about two month old when he was really sick. Then end with a few pictures I took today when he was just smiling like a fool.

Happy Anniversary

This last weekend was our 5th anniversary. Travis took Friday off so we slept in and just enjoyed the kids. Debbie,Rick and Shelby came down Friday afternoon to watch the kids for us while we spent the night at The Kimball.(Thanks again mom and dad Yost) Saturday Layton Co. had their company party at Lagoon. So we took full advantage of the discount and no kids and had a great day out. I went on every ride I was unable to go on last year when I was 8 month pregnant. We had a wonderful and relaxing day just being together. The best part, the power went out at Lagoon for about 3 hours so we get to go back for free before June 30th. What a great deal!!! It's great knowing that we survived five years and still love each other as much know as the first day. And we are both looking forward to another five and beyond.

Pioneer Days

Eagle Mountain city Pioneer days. The girls had so much fun . They enjoyed the kid carnival, having their faces painted and fingernails along with all the fun little games and Cotton candy. Thursday they has a real carnival. All the rides were for the little ones. So we enjoyed walking from ride to ride and letting the girls go on their favorite strawberry ride as many times and mom and dads tummys could handle. Friday we went to the Amphitheatre to see Horton hears a Who. The girls loved sitting out under the stars and and watching a funny elephant. Saturday we hit the carnival again to let the girls ride the Strawberry one last time and get there faces paint again. It was a fun week, we all enjoyed having a few busy nights out and about.

Finally Joining the Family

I finally did it! I have a blog. I have so much fun reading all of your blogs, that I thought it was time to have our own. Don't expect to much form me. There's not much going on in our lives right know. This is so much fun!!!!
